MP hails key contract win for post offices

HIGH Peak MP Andrew Bingham has hailed a key £600m decision which will see post offices continue to provide important services.

In November, the Post Office secured a seven-year Government contract meaning branches will still be able to deliver a range of DVLA services – including driving licence photocard renewals – from this spring.

Mr Bingham, who has signed a dedicated congratulations board in support of the win, said: “The local post office is a vital part of rural communities, especially in the High Peak, and has provided a platform for essential and everyday Government services for many years.

“I’m delighted that the Post Office has been awarded the DVLA contract.

“This will ensure that local residents can continue to easily access the service.”

Martin Moran, commercial director at the Post Office, added: “Winning the DVLA contract again is testimony to the quality of our staff and subpostmasters, whose longstanding commitment to serving local communities contributed greatly to this success.”
