Motorcyclist dies in road smash in village

A Derbyshire man was among three people who died in a crash in Mansfield Woodhouse.

Motorcyclist Alan Dexter, 47, from Pleasley Vale, was killed in the smash on Debdale Lane at about 9.50pm on Friday.

His Honda motorbike was in collision with a BMW car and a Ford Ranger pick-up truck.

Teresa Mitchell, 38, from Mansfield, and Ricky Goodall, 24, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, who were travelling in the BMW, also died.

Two other men, aged 22 and 27, who were passengers in the BMW, and the 29-year-old driver of the pick-up truck were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Dr Mark Folman, a member of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS), was among the first on the scene and called for assistance from fellow EMICS member Dr Nick Foster because of the number of casualties. Dr Folman said: “I have attended numerous serious incidents as part of my voluntary role.

“This is certainly one of the most challenging incidents I have attended for a while.”

Anyone who saw the crash should call Nottinghamshire police on 101.
