A man was rescued from Walton Dam by fire fighters.

Emergency crews were called at around 9pm on Sunday, December 9.

The 44-year-old man from Chesterfield, who appeared to be drunk, was spotted near a bridge over the river close to Morrisons on Chatsworth Road

He ran in to Walton Park, waded in to the lake and began swimming.

Specialist crew from Chesterfield Fire Station used water rescue equipment to pull him out of the water at 9.10pm.

He was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for a check up but later released.
