EMERGENCY SERVICES are currently in attendance at the A6 at Topley Pike after two cars crashed into the river.

Specialist water rescuers from the fire service released a male from one of the vehicles, which had overturned. Four people, including two children, have been taken to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.

Police, firefighters, paramedics and mountain rescue teams were called to the scene shortly after 9am.

Motorists are being warned to avoid the area. The Monsal Trail remains closed between Topley Pike car park and Blackwell Mill cottages.
