Lantern making workshop in Matlock Bath

Youngsters can start the new year by learning how to make lanterns out of willows and tissue.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust will host a lantern workshop at its Whistlestop Centre in Matlock Bath on Saturday, January 19.

The workshop shows you how to bend willow to make a star or other shape and then cover it with tissue to make a lantern. The lanterns can then be decorated with patterns from nature that can be drawn or collected from around the centre.

The workshop is suitable for families – children under 11 will need help from an adult to make their lantern. There are two sessions available, 10am-12pm or 1.30pm-3.30pm. There is a charge of £8 per lantern. Places are limited so please book in advance by calling Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on 01773 881188 during normal office hours.
