Investigations continue after River Wye tragedy

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after a man died when two cars left the road and landed in the River Wye near Buxton this morning.

A 42-year-old man died in the accident, when the vehicles, containing members of the same family, left the road at a sharp bend on a narrow Peak District track and landed upside down in the river.

Local residents and emergency services entered the water to help rescue those in the vehicles and all the passengers were taken to Stepping Hill Hospital. The man, who was driving a Toyota Aygo, sadly later died.
