High Peak is one of the most competitive places for job seekers in the East Midlands

The High Peak has the second highest number of people chasing every advertised job vacancy in the East Midlands - new figures have revealed.

An average of 5.7 people go for every job in the High Peak - more than double the regional average of just 2.7.

Statistics unveiled by Unison, show that out of the 40 local authorities in the East Midlands, only Gedling in Nottinghamshire has more people competing for jobs.
