Help raise £25k for Ashgate Hospice

Derbyshire Times Ale launch with Raw Brewery and Ashgate Hospice. Julia Rodgerson

The Derbyshire Times has launched an ambitious appeal to raise £25,000 for Ashgate Hospice and mark the charity’s 25th anniversary.

The fundraising drive will run until the end of 2013 to celebrate the hospice’s milestone birthday and raise vital funds.

The appeal kicked off on Friday with the launch of Derbyshire Times own real ale at the White Swan in Chesterfield.

Brewed by David Hemstock of Staveley based brewing company Raw, the ale proved a big hit with customers - selling 140 pints in just 24 hours.

Proceeds from the ale, which is now on sale in pubs across the area, will go towards the hospice.

We are now appealing for readers to join in our efforts and share their own fundraising ideas.

By getting in touch with us and joining the campaign we will publicise your activities.

Head of fundraising Joanne Edwards said: “Local people, businesses and the Derbyshire Times have really taken us to their hearts during the last 25 years and, without them, we would not have been able to make such a positive difference to thousands of terminally ill people and their families.

“The £25,000 appeal will ensure that our 25th anniversary gets off to a great start and we hope that everyone will continue to support our vital work so that we can still be here in another 25 years!”
