There may be a few months to go but plans are already well underway for this year’s Buxton Carnival and Well Dressing Festival.

A selection event for the 2014 royalty will take place next weekend, with youngsters being encouraged to take part.

Applicants for the position of queen need to be aged between 12 and 16, attendants should be between eight and 11 and pageboy’s should be between five and 11. Anyone wanting to take on the role of rosebud/small attendant needs to be aged between five and seven.

Entry forms are available from Hargreaves, the Buxton Advertiser office on Scarsdale Place, or Goddards Music Shop and the selection event is at Buxton Working Men’s Club on February 23 at 2pm.

Team members are also being sought to help with the dressing of the Buxton float.

There are no specific requirements in terms of skills or time, and training is given.

The dressing of the float takes place over a period of ten to 14 days and any level of commitment is welcomed.

Contact Maureen Kitchen on 01298 25590 if you can help.
