Bomb disposal experts were called to Eckington after a hand grenade was found.
The explosive was discovered by a walker on Gas Lane at 12.48pm on Sunday, December 30.
Police and explosive experts from the MOD were called out and a 100 metre cordon was put in place around where the grenade was found.
A controlled detonation was carried out at about 3pm and the grenade was taken away to be destroyed.
