POETS are being encouraged to enter an annual contest.
This year’s Buxton Poetry Competition will have the theme of history and heritage.
A spokesman said: “Poems could reflect your own history, tell the story of a person or event in the past or be a much wider interpretation of this challenging theme.”
The contest, which will be judged by top poet Philip Wells, has three categories:
• Open poetry – for poets aged 19 and over
• Young People’s poetry – for poets ages 12 to 18
• Children’s poetry – for poets aged 11 and under
For more information about the competition and to download an entry pack, visit www.derby.ac.uk/buxtonpoetrycompetition or phone 01298 70395.
The contest is now its sixth year.
