Eight people have been arrested after an air rifle was fired from a flat in Chesterfield - injuring two people and damaging a property.

At around 10.15am on Sunday, November 11 police were called to Didcot Close after receiving reports of an air rifle being fired from a flat.

A 20-year-old man was hit in the back by a pellet as he walked across open space on Kingsclere Walk and a police community support officer was hit in the leg while responding to a report of a burnt out moped in the area.

They received minor injuries.

Damage was also caused to a window of a house on Kingsclere Walk.

Three men aged between 18 and 21-years-old, four 17-year old youths and an 18-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident.

Seven have been released on police bail but one 17-year-old youth remains in police custody.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Derbyshire police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
