Police are giving shoppers the chance to pick up a free property marking pen as they buy their Christmas presents.
Officers in Chesterfield will be handing out ultra-violet marker pens in B&Q at Spire Walk Business Park between 12pm and 2pm on Monday.
In addition, they will be speaking to shoppers and residents about how to stay safe and prevent crime in the run up to festive celebrations.
PCSO Kirsty Handby said: “We managed to speak to many customers at a previous event at Toys R Us about home security and storing presents safely and we gave out free UV pens so they can mark their valuables as soon as possible over the Christmas period.
“Marking your valuables and taking a few steps such as leaving a light on at home if you’re out and not leaving gifts and valuables on show in vehicles can really help to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime at Christmas.”
PCSO Handby added: “We’ll be at B&Q on Monday and hope to see as many people as possible.”
