Derbyshire businessman Derek Mapp is to be the next High Sheriff of Derbyshire, serving from April 2013 for one year.

Derek has lived in Chesterfield for 27 years and has two children and has been married to Karen for 41 years.

Previously Derek was chairman of the East Midlands Development Agency (1998 — 2004) and Sport England (2005 — 2006) and retains his sporting interests by chairing the British Amateur Boxing Association which has just enjoyed spectacular success at the London Olympics.

He first moved to the county as a Director of Mansfield Brewery Company and then subsequently developed the highly successful Tom Cobleigh Pub chain before moving on to develop Leapfrog Day Nurseries.
