DERBYSHIRE: Warnings of widespread ice

FORECASTERS have warned Derbyshire and Midlands residents to brace themselves for slippery and icy conditions during the next 24 hours between Sunday, January 20, and Monday, January 21.

Temperatures today, Sunday, are expected to hover around 0 degrees centigrade and may only reach as high as 1 degree centigrade and the Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning for the Midlands.

The Snake Pass between Ladybower and Glossop remains hazardous and the smaller untreated roads are proving dangerous countywide.

There could be 2cm-5cm of snow during Sunday and possibly around 10cm in the hills, according to forecasters, today, January 21 with snow showers during Monday.

Conditions for Monday morning, January 21, could be hazardous so commuters are being warned to allow plenty of time for journeys and be well-prepared with warm clothes, snacks and mobile phones.
