Residents in Dunston, Whittington Moor, St. Helens, Newbold and Brockwell will be seeing a new face on the streets.
Tom Dunn has taken on the role of Police Community Support Officer and began his patrols with the local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in June.
PCSO Dunn, who is currently being tutored by PCSO Jude Cornwall, will be on patrol throughout the area over the coming months to introduce himself to the local community and find out about any issues affecting residents.
He said: “I’ve always had an interest in a career in policing, and although it’s still early days I’ve been really enjoying the role.
“So far I’ve been busy getting to know the local community and have helped my colleagues in some local criminal damage and theft offences. If you do see me out and about please don’t hesitate to say hello.”
Outside of work, Tom, 25, enjoys sport and going to the gym. He also plays rugby and football, and supports the Sale Sharks rugby union team.
PCSO Dunn joins colleagues Acting Sergeant Heather Saville, PCs Simon Duddles, Mick Hellewell and Mark Lindley, and PCSOs Jude Cornwall and Janis Naylor.
PCSO Becky King has now left the team to start a career as a police officer.
