Gritters are out in force today (Friday, January 25) as heavy snowfall is expected by this evening.

Today:

A dry morning, any freezing fog patches lifting. Snow spreading east later this afternoon, some heavy outbreaks expected, especially over hills, with drifting and local blizzard conditions likely in quite strong southerly winds. Feeling very cold. Maximum Temperature 1 °C.

Tonight:

Snow continuing in the night but turning to rain or sleet then clearing later, although leaving icy conditions. Turning misty as winds drop, with fog in places. Minimum Temperature -2 °C.

Saturday:

Dry for most with some sunshine, just isolated showers, locally wintry over the Derbyshire hills. Still on the cold side, although higher temperatures than recently giving a slow snow thaw. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.
