Heavy snow hit Derbyshire last night - sparking flooding fears over the next few days.

The latest band of wintry weather saw more than 10cm (4in) of snow fall on higher ground.

Derbyshire County Council has warned motorists to beware of icy stretches expected to affect roads.

Snow fell into the small hours (Saturday, January 26) turning to rain or sleet and leaving some icy conditions.

Forecasters have warned motorists to watch out for hazardous driving conditions.

Warnings are in place for the A5012 Via Gellia Lane, near Cromford and between the B5036 Cromford Hill junction in Cromford and the A515 junction in Biggin.

Today is expected to be dry and bright before clouds move in from the west. Heavy rain and melting snow then bring a risk of flooding.
