A former civic chairman has left a lasting legacy of his year in office.

Councillor Peter Slack, who served as chairman of the District of the Derbyshire Dales until May, raised £4,400 for two charities. He presented cheques for £2,700 to the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre in Skegness, which provides holidays for disadvantaged children, and £1,700 to Wirksworth Swimming Pool Trust.
