A teenage boy has been arrested following a suspected hoax call to the police which caused them to deploy their armed response unit to Brimington.
The 13–year–old was arrested this morning (Monday, July 7) on suspicion of wasting police time.
A call was made to Derbyshire Police on Friday evening reporting there was a person with a firearm in the Peterdale Road area of Brimington.
However when armed officers responded to it, at about 7.45pm, they found no evidence that a firearm had been deployed.
They carried out enquiries in Peterdale Road and Coronation Road on the evening. The above picture of armed officers in a garden was taken by a Derbyshire Times reader.
Officers then returned to the area the following day to reassure members of the public.
