A number of stunning parks across Derbyshire have received prestigious Green Flag awards.

Tapton Lock in Chesterfield, Holmebrook Valley Park in Chesterfield, Queen’s Park in Chesterfield, Poolsbrook Country Park in Staveley, the grounds of Chesterfield and District Crematorium and Hall Leys Park in Matlock have all been named among the country’s finest green spaces.

A record-breaking 1,476 parks and green spaces received a Green Flag Award this year.

Paul Todd, of Keep Britain Tidy which manages the awards, said: “A Green Flag award provides national recognition for all the parks managers, staff and volunteers who, through their dedication and hard work, have helped to create these fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.

“Quality green spaces are a vital resource for communities.”
