Three Derbyshire councils are among the first in the country to sign a covenant to officially honour the Armed Forces.
Bolsover, Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire signed the charter of respect in recognition of the service, dedication and sacrifice made by current and former service personnel.
The signing, held at Hardwick Hall on Monday, July 16, coincided with national commemorations marking the 30th anniversary of the end of the Falklands War.
NE Derbyshire District Council leader Graham Baxter said: “On behalf of the local communities that we serve, we are proud to sign this charter of respect to recognise what our armed forces have done, and continue to do for us.”
Bolsover District Council leader Eion Watts added: “This is a very worthwhile project that we had no hesitation in pledging our support to.”
The Ministry of Defence is encouraging local authorities to sign up to the Armed Forces Community Covenant to reinforce the bond between a community and the Armed Forces.
