Councillor highlights problems on road

A councillor has voiced concerns over potentially life-threatening problems on a Whaley Bridge road.

Cllr Linda Leather said emergency service vehicles were struggling to get through Buxton Road during the school run because of heavy traffic and parked cars.

Speaking at a meeting of Whaley Bridge Town Council last Thursday, Cllr Leather said: “A few weeks ago an ambulance had to wait 15 minutes because the driver couldn’t get through the traffic.

“Someone could have died in the back of that ambulance and in this day and age that isn’t good enough.”

After the meeting, Cllr Leather said it was up to Derbyshire County Council to tackle the problems on the road.
