Cops’ high speed chase

Thieves who stole a car and caravan from outside a house in Ambergate were the subject of a police chase involving dog units and the police helicopter.

The crooks broke through electric gates at a property in Midland Terrace some time between 10pm and 11.40pm on Thursday, January 10.

They ran out of luck however when they were spotted by a police officer as they drove along the A6.

The officer then followed the car and caravan as far as Little Eaton.

Two people abandoned the car on Woodlands Close and ran off.

Dog units were deployed and the police helicopter, which had been grounded by the fog, later took off to help in the search.

A young man was later arrested on suspicion of theft on Rigger Lane at around 12.20am.
