CANNABIS plants seized from a house in South Normanton could have yielded up to £50,000 in street drug deals, a court heard.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard how police went to James Sewell’s home after receiving a call that the property had been broken into.
They found 38 immature cannabis plants growing in the attic and 18 plants in a back bedroom during the investigation in July.
Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said: “In addition, 46 cuttings and seedlings were found in the bathroom. Police obtained forensic analysis and say if the items had grown to maturity their potential yields would be equivalent to a street value of between £20,400 and £50,160.”
Sewell, 36, of Carter Lane West, South Normanton, admitted producing cannabis. Presiding magistrate David Summers committed Sewell to Derby Crown Court for sentence on December 14. Probation service reports were ordered and he was granted unconditional bail.
