A funding deal has seen a family-owned company open a new depot in Alfreton – creating 12 jobs for local people.

Freightroute Ltd – which trades across England and Scotland with a fleet of 130 vehicles delivering and collecting palletised goods –opened the doors on the base on Garnham Close after clinching a seven-figure finance package from NatWest.

Michael Hurford, Freightroute’s finance director, said: “Our ambitious growth strategy is dependent on investing in new premises, modern vehicles and taking on talented staff to provide the best possible service to a growing customer base up and down the country. I’m absolutely delighted to be extending our reach and growing the business here in Alfreton, also welcoming new employees to our team.” Neil Best, relationship director for NatWest, added: “We’re proud to have been able to support our long-standing customer in opening an impressive ninth depot, supporting the local economy and creating new jobs in the area.”
