Chesterfield is celebrating after judges awarded a silver-gilt medal to the blooming brilliant borough.
Judges from the East Midlands in Bloom competition gave the award in the small cities category after visiting the borough in July.
They were impressed with the annual Chesterfield in Bloom project and particularly pleased with the refurbishment of Eastwood Park, Hasland.
Cllr Chris Ludlow, Chesterfield Borough Council’s executive member for environment said: “The silver-gilt award from the East Midlands in Bloom judges is a credit to the people who have worked so hard over the past year to make this possible.”
There was extra celebration for Staveley residents as they were awarded silver in the town category.
And St Mary’s Catholic Primary School (pictured) was awarded a gold medal in the ornamental garden category.
Headteacher Lynsey Aps said: “The whole school is absolutely delighted about our award – we have been working towards gold for several years and we are thrilled to achieve this.
The results of the annual Chesterfield in Bloom competition will be announced next Monday at a ceremony at Ringwood Hall Hotel.
