CHESTERFIELD: Thousands flock to real ale festival

Chesterfield CAMRA members ready to let the public into their beer festival

Chesterfield CAMRA members ready to let the public into their beer festival

Real ale enthusiasts have raised a glass to success - after a sell-out festival in Chesterfield.

Over 2,000 people packed the Winding Wheel for the Chesterfield and District CAMRA event.

Live music and over 130 beers from around the UK including beers brewed by our very own Derbyshire brewers, were on offer at the festival which took place on Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2.

Jane Lefley, of CAMRA, said: “It was a huge success again and every session was a sell-out.

“Everybody said it was a great venue and a good selection of beers.”

Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins had the honour of pulling the first pint to open the event.

He said: “Real ale is growing in popularity. CAMRA deserve recognition for raising the profile of the drink and helping countless micro brewers become profitable businesses.”

Rattle Imperial Red, a strong ale brewed in Ashover won the Derbyshire Brewers Collective title while Chantry Brewery in Rotherham claimed Beer of the Festival with their New York pale ale.
