Fashion students showcased their talents during an event in Chesterfield.
From Dickens’ Miss Havisham through to Grecian imagery, Chesterfield College’s students drew on a wide range of inspiration for their show.
Held June 26 and June 27 the popular event featured works from a large number of fashion, hair and beauty students, from AS Level through to foundation and extended diploma.
Fashion student, Angela Smart from Clay Cross, had her collection modelled.
She said: “My collection is a modern twist on classic fairytales and takes inspiration from the book of short fiction, The Bloody Chamber.

“Putting the collection together is a lot of hard work but when I see the garments on the models I get a lump in my throat, it’s worth all of the effort in the end. When I finish this academic year I’m going to study Costume Design at Huddersfield University.”
Studying on the same Level 3 course, Charlotte Atkinson from Ashover has taken inspiration from country pursuits in her collection.
She said: “I’ve chosen to work with tweed for my collection to suit the country pursuits theme.
“The tutors encouraged me to push myself and it has been a lot of hard graft but I understand now that all of my efforts are worthwhile.”
The event was part of the college’s week-long arts festival where a range of art, film, fashion, hair and beauty exhibitions were on show.
