Chesterfield’s Queen’s Park will be alive with music to celebrate the end of London 2012.

A jam-packed musical event will be held on Sunday, September 9 to mark a summer of sport and culture on the final day of the Paralympic Games.

The line up will include Ashover Band and Highly Strung.

Ruth Mackenzie, director, London 2012 Festival, said; “The Bandstand Marathon is encouraging local music groups to showcase their talents and be part of the London 2012 Festival. I am proud that we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in creating a cultural legacy post-London 2012.”

The best of local talent will be performing including bands, groups, choirs and individual musicians.

The free event will entertain audiences from 1pm to 5pm,
