Chesterfield’s heritage to be celebrated

CHESTERFIELD’S heritage assets are to be celebrated - and residents are being asked to put forward their nominations.

Chesterfield Borough Council is putting together the list to help conserve and enhance the town’s heritage for future generations.

Cllr Terry Gilby, executive member for planning at the council said: “Chesterfield has a number of distinctive buildings and structures that make a positive contribution to our sense of place and these should be officially recognised.

“We are aware of a number of such assets but local people will have their own views so we’re keen for them to get involved and nominate what they consider to be a heritage asset so we can investigate further and if appropriate add to the list.”

To nominate go to www.chesterfield.gov.uk/planning/conservation

The final list of heritage assets will help the council when considering future planning applications.
