NDET 16-1-13 MC 12 Steven Smith in hospital with three breaks in his back following a hit and run at Old Whittington, he is pictured in Northern General Hospital with his family, mum Celia, 19 year old sister Shirene and Dad Paul Smith.

The family of a teenager who was left seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash have issued a desperate appeal to find the driver.

Steven Smith, 17, broke his back in three places, suffered a head injury and was left bleeding in the road after being knocked off his motorbike by a car.

Now his parents are urging anyone with information about the collision to come forward.
