A ball and auction is set to take place to help pay for ground-breaking treatment for a severely brain-damaged man.

Stan Padley, of Wingerworth, needs £50,000 for pioneering stemcell treatment which could see him speak again.

Mr Padley was left unable to speak and confined to a wheelchair when a routine operation to treat arthritis went wrong.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 16 at the Red Lion bar and bistro in Stone Edge on Saturday, February 16.

Television’s James Lewis will host the evening which will include a live band and a three course meal.
