CHESTERFIELD: Biggest balloon release to mark Mother’s Day

DEDICATED CAMPAIGNERS: Wendy Watson with her daughter Becky Measures.

DEDICATED CAMPAIGNERS: Wendy Watson with her daughter Becky Measures.

The biggest balloon release ever seen in the region will take place in Chesterfield to mark Mother’s Day.

The celebration of mothers will be held outside the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline Charity shop in West Bars on Sunday, March 10.

The ‘message in a bubble’ event will be launched by nine-year-old Lucy Hallam from Chesterfield who will be counting down the official balloon release.

Lucy lost her Mum Lisa to ovarian cancer last year and she and her Dad Warren have taken it upon themselves to support charities with a connection to Lisa.

Profits from the day will assist the Helpline in its work raising awareness of hereditary breast cancer, and supporting those at risk.

Messages will be attached to balloons which will be released at 11am.

The charity shop’s cafe will be open serving a selection of light snacks, homemade cakes and hot drinks.

Tickets, costing £2 are available at any NHBCH Charity shops, Fresh Ideas Florist in Chatsworth Road and The Britannia Inn.
