Residents are invited to come along and take part in a teddy bear’s picnic to celebrate the opening of a baby memorial garden.
The event takes place this Sunday, 8 June, at Boythorpe Cemetery, Chesterfield.
The borough council’s bereavement services staff, based at Chesterfield and District Crematorium, have joined with members of Chesterfield Sands, the stillbirth and neo-natal death charity in raising more than £20,000 to fund the garden.
The last big fundraiser was a night of music at Tupton Village Hall which raised £1,167.47. The event was organised by trumpeter Wil Robinson in memory of his partner Claire Cadman’s baby son Luke David Ions.
Anyone wanting to join in Sunday’s event should bring a teddy and a picnic from 2pm. The official opening ceremony will take place at 2.30pm.
