Charity needs help to keep older people warm

A charity wants to spread a little warmth among older readers this winter.

Age UK, in Granby Road, Bakewell, is handing out free thermometers to residents as well as selling coloured bobbles in a bid to raise cash.

The drive is part of the Spread the Warmth campaign, aimed at keeping older people warm during the cold snap.

The charity is also asking people to donate their time to knit knee blankets for the elderly.

On average, there are 26,700 older people die in England and Wales during the winter months.

For further information on the campaign call into the store or telephone it on 01629 813221.
