A NEW winter carer’s support service will be available from January to March to help ease the burden on carers.
As bad weather can make getting out and about difficult, the Volunteer Centre Buxton can help in a number of ways by:
l Providing transport to hospital appointments.
l Providing transport to the shops for groceries and other essentials,
l Asking volunteers to do shopping for you,
l Providing trained befrienders who can visit you in your home and provide additional respite when leaving the house is made difficult by bad weather,
l Providing a Home from Hospital service. If someone you care for is due to be discharged from a local hospital they can help you prepare for their arrival.
