Buxton sees second wettest year on record

Buxton saw its second wettest year on record in 2012.

Buxton saw its second wettest year on record in 2012.

BUXTON saw its second wettest year on record in 2012, according to weather forecasters.

Figures from the Met Office show 1,651mm of rain fell in the town during last year.

The record was set in 2000 when 1,852.6mm of rainfall was recorded.

A Met Office spokesman said several parts of north west England – including Stonyhurst in Lancashire – saw more rainfall than Buxton during 2012.

The spokesman added that the rest of January is likely to be mainly cold – with possible wintry showers from tonight (Thursday).
