A family of bakers from Heanor cake store The Mirage Cake Company has emerged victorious in an international cake show held at London’s Excel Arena.

Jamie Brooks, 38, owner of Mirage entered three wonderfully crafted cakes into several of the decorative
exhibit categories of the competition.

Jamie created the 5ft tall ‘Magic Faraway Tree’ cake, which won a bronze award, his daughter Summer Brooks, aged six, created a ‘Zelf’ cake which also earned a bronze award, while Jamie’s nephew Joseph Blackhall, 25, earned gold with his Yoda cake (inset above).

Next up for the Derby Road baker’s is the world’s biggest event for cake makers, the Birmingham Cake International in November.
