Police are appealing for information after suspected petrol was poured through the letterbox of a house in Dronfield.
At around 11.45pm last night, police were called to a house on Hassop Close after the homeowner heard the letterbox rattle and got a strong smell of petrol.
They noticed petrol had been put through the letterbox and that there were scorch marks on the outside where the offenders had attempted to ignite it.
No one in the house was injured during the incident.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area or knows someone who may have unexplained burns to their hands and arms.
