TIDESWELL’S Jordon Williams has qualified as a Royal Navy logistics specialist at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, and is now ready for his first posting.

The 21-year-old Able Rate (AB) joined the Royal Navy in May 2012. After his ten-week initial naval training course he transferred to the Defence Maritime Logistics School, where he underwent a 12-week course to qualify as a Logistician (Supply Chain).

Now fully trained, Jordon will be putting his new skills into practice initially at HMS Drake, the Royal Navy shore establishment in Plymouth. There he will join a team who are responsible for ensuring that the unit has everything it needs for the operation, ordering and storing of millions of pounds worth of equipment, from engineering parts to stationery.

The former Lady Manners School pupil previously worked as a brewery assistant.

He said: “I joined the Royal Navy to serve our country and travel the world, while gaining some life-changing experiences.

“I’ve enjoyed learning my trade, which included a visit to HMS Ocean, the biggest ship in the Royal Navy. Another highlight was the week-long leadership training in Wales. I’m now really excited about starting my first draft.”
