The 1st Chapel-en-le-Frith Scout Group is a step closer to having a more accessible, modern and fit-for-purpose headquarters thanks to a funding boost from The Veolia Environmental Trust.

The organisation has awarded £29,600 through the Landfill Communities Fund towards refurbishing the scout hut on Thornbrook Road. Improvements will include upgrading the building’s electrical system, creating a disabled toilet facility, installing an external access door and improving the kitchen space.

The company will work with the scout group to confirm the details and draft the required documents so work can start as soon as possible.

1st Chapel Scout Group Chairman Ian Hill welcomed the news: “We look forward to working with the trust team to ensure our plans become real and benefit the scouts and the wider community.”

Paul Taylor, Executive Director of The Veolia Environmental Trust, added: “This grant is a great example of how the trust and the Landfill Communities Fund make a real difference to all types of communities.”
