NEWLY formed GP group Hardwick Health outlined its progress since it became one of three consortiums preparing to take over management roles from Derbyshire’s primary care trust as part of NHS reforms.
Hardwick Health held a meeting at Chesterfield Hotel, in the town, last Wednesday, and claims it is leading the way with developments for its 103,000 patients in Bolsover and north Derbyshire.
The group includes nine practices and said it is consulting with Derbyshire County PCT and councils, has created a dermatology programme to access advice and a project to boost understanding between social care and health professionals.
The changes follow a Government announcement, last year, about plans to abolish PCTs which manage health services and replace them with GP led consortiums to reduce costs. Despite concerns about job losses Derbyshire PCT hopes staff may be retained to support consortiums. Other new groups include North Derbyshire Consortium.
