GenerOUS golfers proved a driving force when they helped their club captain raise hundreds of pounds in aid of Chesterfield Royal Hospital’s special care baby unit.

Fundraising through competition, raffles and other money-spinning enterprises during Derek Griffiths’ year as senior captain at Tapton Park Golf Club, Chesterfield, has resulted in him presenting a cheque for £1,450 to the unit.

The presentation was made to unit representative Lynn Elliot and the handover was also attended by Andy Beardsley, the club’s gents captain, who has chosen the care unit for his charity.

Andy will be aiding the hospital through the sale of a publication tracing the history of the golf club which he is currently compiling.

He is appealing for any old photos or stories of the club from past members or relatives.
