A Buxton singer/songwriter has been given her big chance after signing a contract with global music giant Columbia Records.

Lucy Spraggan first came under the media spotlight when she captivated audiences on the X Factor with her self-penned track ‘Last Night‘ which shot up the iTunes chart and now has over 20 million views on YouTube.

The songstress is now working on her new album, which is set to be released later this year.

Lucy said: “I’m really excited to be working with Columbia, it is such a respected label with an incredible heritage.

“To be signed to the company who have worked with great icons like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen and the newer generation of artists like Calvin Harris and Rita Ora is amazing – I can’t wait.”

Co–President of Columbia Alison Donald added: “Lucy is a refreshingly honest and naturally gifted storyteller who walks to the beat of her own drum.

“Her song–writing very much fits in with the tradition and artistry of the Columbia ethos and we are absolutely delighted to have her onboard.”

Lucy will embark on a sold out headline tour of the UK in April, starting in Bristol and including a show at the Borderline in London on April 30.

After an overwhelming demand for tickets, six new dates were added including a second date at the Borderline, in London, on May 1.
