A pair of determined gamers are hoping to create one of the first games for the new Xbox One console.
Techie cousins James Kirk, 25 and Daniel Elliott, 21, have been hard at work on their intergalactic arcade game, Tri-Fei-2, which sees a dimension-hopping alien navigate through the solar system.
One month – and thousands of lines of complex code later – and the basic structure of the game is taking shape. But the pair estimate the game wont be completed for another six months.
“We want to put a lot of effort into this to make it right” said Glapwell-based engineer James, who has already created a Windows Phone game called ‘Woebots’.
“Programming is something I enjoy doing, so I thought I would try and put it to use. Making a career out of it would be the dream.”
The duo have been invited by Microsoft to a summit in London next month, where they will hear tips on developing games for the highly-anticipated console.
Welder Daniel, from Mansfield, said: “I can’t wait. I am responsible for a lot of the drawings and art of the game, and it is amazing to watch it take shape.”
