BIG-HEARTED NHS Derbyshire County staff are preparing to run up pots of cash to help fight cancer in this month’s Race for Life.

The team, dubbed the PCT Pink Panthers, will pound the streets of Chesterfield with some dressed as Pink Panthers and others sporting pink moustaches for the 5k run, starting at 10.30am on father’s day, Sunday, June 19.

Julie Yapp, cancer screening coordinator at NHS Derbyshire County, will be running the race with colleagues. She said: “Many of us have friends or family who have been affected by cancer, so this is an ideal opportunity to show our support and raise much-needed funds for this important cause.

“I’m taking part in memory of my dad and to raise awareness of the NHS Bowel, Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening Programmes. These programmes help to save lives by identifying and treating people as early as possible when treatment is more effective.”

The PCT Pink Panthers have been given custumes from The Party Shop, on Cavendish Street, Chesterfield, which is offering a ten per cent discount on pink products for customers wanting to dress up for the race, providing they can prove their entry.
