MOTORISTS are being warned by Derbyshire Country Council to take extra care on the roads over the next few days.
Temperatures are forecast to dip to below freezing. And with floodwater still standing on many of the county’s roads, this is expected to make driving conditions extremely difficult.
Councillor Simon Spencer, Deputy Leader of DCC said: “The ground is completely saturated with all the rain. That means we’re likely to see water running from adjacent land onto the road for a few days yet – particularly in rural areas.
“If temperatures drop, any grit we spread could be washed away and there’ll be little we can do to help prevent wet roads turning icy, so drivers should take extreme care.”
