THE DERBYSHIRE Times’ Local Business Accelerator competition is due to announce its shortlist of candidates bidding to win a share of thousands of pounds worth of free advertising packages.

Young firms from a variety of fields have acknowledged the importance of advertising by entering our competition which includes mentoring guidance for the top three entries.

Derbyshire Times editor Nicola Megson said: “We’ve received lots of fantastic entries and it’s been really difficult to come up with a shortlist because there are so many worthy companies involved.”

The LBA winner, who has shown potential, great ideas, products and plans for growth, will receive an advertising package worth £18,104, the second placed runner-up will get one worth £8,959 and the third placed runner up will get one worth £6,779.

A shortlist will be announced by December 7 before the top three winners are announced on January 11, 2012.

Outstanding first placed regional winners of the Newspaper Society-backed LBA contest will qualify for the national LBA with a chance of getting BBC TV show Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden as a mentor.
