Firefighters tackling large barn fire in Duckmanton that can be seen from M1

Crews from Chesterfield, Staveley and Bolsover are in attendance at a farm on Rectory Road.

The incident involves a barn fire, which can be seen from the M1. Crews have been at the scene since 1.18pm.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the incident will be ongoing until at least the early hours of tomorrow morning. People are advised to avoid the area.

Station Manager Colin Winterbottom said: “Whilst we are dealing with a large barn fire, firefighters have been successful in controlling the fire and prevent it spreading to any vehicles and buildings on the site.

“I’d like to request that people avoid the area whilst we deal with the ongoing incident.”
